Our visit to Rochelle and Anthony’s place was great from start to finish. Anthony met us at the pier with his friend Ted, then took us around so we could purchase items for our room, i.e. nuts, beer and soda. After a short trip up the hill to Verde View Villas, we were met by the staff with mango juice, a pasta lunch and a tour of the premises. Anthony upgraded our room in the main house to one of the brand new villas. What an unexpected surprise! The villa had a very comfortable king size bed, a large tv, a refrigerator and a beautiful shower. It was air conditioned, which helped take the edge off the hot afternoon sun. The room was very clean and the view from the sliding doors was of the pool and facing east so we could watch the sunrise from our bed. Anthony also provided us with bottled water which was very appreciated. The pool was recently opened and we spent every available minute in it. It is perfectly situated so that you can see the ocean when you rest on the side of the pool. We loved that the pool was right outside our door and that we could swim at any time. We also loved the day we went snorkelling at the private beach. After a short walk through the jungle and then down a fair amount of concrete stairs, we were met by the beautiful sight of sparkling waters and coral beach. We were able to borrow equipment from Anthony and snorkel right off the beach! We saw so many amazing sea creatures and fish. The coral was phenomenal! Besides looking at the amazing views at the villa, we did a lot of different things. We took walks to the lighthouse after sunrise, photographed every sunset, explored the town, ate at Capt. Gregg’s several times (great food!) and imbibed on gin juice. We watched the sunset on Anthony and Rochelle’s back porch at their invitation and we were also invited to watch it from their rooftop, which was spectacular! We took a Jeepney tour to Ponderosa and to Luca’s on the beach in Talipanan Beach and finally into Puerto Galera. We shopped in town and we rode on the back of motor scooters to get back to the villa. On our final day we just relaxed and read on our veranda, enjoying the sun and quiet and views. We ate like kings, enjoying our complimentary breakfasts that included local fruit (best mangoes!) on the veranda, courtesy of Linda and Cedric. We had a chicken salad one evening with a lovely dressing. Cedric also cooked a reef fish we bought at the market for a nominal charge – fantastic! For our final night, he cooked us his specialty, Thai pork with rice. The flavours were amazing and we loved it! The dinners were very reasonably priced. We were at the villa from Tuesday night until Sunday morning and we really wish we…
