Our visit to Rochelle and Anthony’s place was great from start to finish. Anthony met us at the pier with his friend Ted, then took us around so we could purchase items for our room, i.e. nuts, beer and soda. After a short trip up the hill to Verde View Villas, we were met by the staff with mango juice, a pasta lunch and a tour of the premises. Anthony upgraded our room in the main house to one of the brand new villas. What an unexpected surprise! The villa had a very comfortable king size bed, a large tv, a refrigerator and a beautiful shower. It was air conditioned, which helped take the edge off the hot afternoon sun. The room was very clean and the view from the sliding doors was of the pool and facing east so we could watch the sunrise from our bed. Anthony also provided us with bottled water which was very appreciated. The pool was recently opened and we spent every available minute in it. It is perfectly situated so that you can see the ocean when you rest on the side of the pool. We loved that the pool was right outside our door and that we could swim at any time. We also loved the day we went snorkelling at the private beach. After a short walk through the jungle and then down a fair amount of concrete stairs, we were met by the beautiful sight of sparkling waters and coral beach. We were able to borrow equipment from Anthony and snorkel right off the beach! We saw so many amazing sea creatures and fish. The coral was phenomenal! Besides looking at the amazing views at the villa, we did a lot of different things. We took walks to the lighthouse after sunrise, photographed every sunset, explored the town, ate at Capt. Gregg’s several times (great food!) and imbibed on gin juice. We watched the sunset on Anthony and Rochelle’s back porch at their invitation and we were also invited to watch it from their rooftop, which was spectacular! We took a Jeepney tour to Ponderosa and to Luca’s on the beach in Talipanan Beach and finally into Puerto Galera. We shopped in town and we rode on the back of motor scooters to get back to the villa. On our final day we just relaxed and read on our veranda, enjoying the sun and quiet and views. We ate like kings, enjoying our complimentary breakfasts that included local fruit (best mangoes!) on the veranda, courtesy of Linda and Cedric. We had a chicken salad one evening with a lovely dressing. Cedric also cooked a reef fish we bought at the market for a nominal charge – fantastic! For our final night, he cooked us his specialty, Thai pork with rice. The flavours were amazing and we loved it! The dinners were very reasonably priced. We were at the villa from Tuesday night until Sunday morning and we really wish we…
Rochelle and Anthony have made this a welcome and wonderful place to stay, providing in comprehensive detail of all the things you can do in the area and supporting this with making all the arrangements for you if required to ensure your stay requires the minimum of effort. The view is exactly as the picture suggests and the sunrises are stunning adding to the tranquility that was provided throughout the stay. All in all I could not have asked for more; a very big thank you to Rochelle and Anthony for everything, I shall be back and have no hesitation in recommending to others; everything was superb – 5 star!
Valle Verde Villas sits on a very quiet cliffside village with breathtaking views of the sea around Sabang and Verde island. We stayed at Rochelle and Anthony’s place for four days and only have praise for our hosts and their place. 1) Anthony and Rochelle have thought of everything to make their guests comfortable and experience the best of their home, which they have put a lot of hard work and love into. They generously welcomed us in their private home, invited us to lunch on the day we arrived and introduced us to their friends We previously stayed at a highly rated resort, Out of the Blue in Small Lalaguna Beach which is much more expensive. Verde View is more value for money, on all counts. It is located in one of the most beautiful and peaceful spots in the island, away from the crowds and noise of other places in Puerto Galera but an easy 5 minute motorcycle ride to restaurants and night life in Sabang. Our room was lovely, comfortable and spacious. Here are some of the things we enjoyed the most: 1) Waking up to watch the sun rise gently over Verde island with only birds for company and ending the day with glorious sunsets (on Rochelle and Anthony’s roof) over Sabang and Puerto Galera. 2) Walking down everyday to a beautiful cove with a coral garden teeming with fish. The walk takes 5 minutes through Anthony’s farm, then gently slopes down to a well maintained path and ends right on the shore. All you’ll need to do is put on snorkels and be amazed at the colorful sea life. 3) Walking around the area finding other small coves and villages, and meeting local people. We loved meeting Lolo Florencio, a 93 year grandfather who told us all kinds of stories. Also talking to locals and expatriates, all in love with this beautiful land. We have definitely found a place to go back to in Puerto Galera. Thanks Anthony and Rochelle.
We spent our Holy Week vacation at Anthony and Rochelle’s. Their hospitality, the weather, their private beach, and the view, everything was so perfect. I hope we can go back there soon.
At the beggining I must say that Rochelle house and place around is INCREDIBLE .The flat has very high standart for me was just perfect. Basic appliances and utensils are present and you can make your own food there if you love cooking It’s very peaceful and a quiet place at the top of Sabang. The feeling like I am in real paradise didnt let me to the last day. Very near Rochelle house is private beach where you can watching underwater life , this is amazing. Every morning we was felt like at home. Very near is motorbike rent when for really cheap price (about 400-500PHP) you can rent a motorbike , to many interesing places is quite far but with the motorbike is just pure pleasure to get there where you want. Rochelle as a person is very warm and kind I was very impress her personality. Rochelle send to us a jeepney when we arrived and at the checkout day she send us back to port. If in the future I will have a chance to visit Puerto Galera again I am sure that I wont search for another offert . Rochelle house is just INCREDIBLE place .
You can be a writer looking for a place to create a new novel. You can be a man having a burning desire to separate from the world. Or you can be one who just need a good rest. Whoever you are, if you are reading about this place -stop thinking – just do it, choose it. And welcome to paradise. Anthony and Rochelle are all thumbs up! They connected with us several times before our travel with phone and Skype. We had a very late arrival time. So they appeared to be our helpers – they organized the transfer right from the airport to their house in Batangas. We had some hours of night rest and in the morning we were transported to the pier. Host’s stuff helped us from the beginning, especially Carmella. She let us easier to understand the rules and traditions of a new country for us. Anthony himself met us at the Sabang pier. Tasty dinner waited for us. The room was cool and equipped with all necessary furniture, devices, even towels and teeth-brushes. It looked like we came not to a someone’s personal house, but to a 3-4 stars hotel/guesthouse. Our daughter played with their daughter. The view was magic. Sunsets made us crazy. The nearest beach for swimming was far enough so Anthony and Rochelle helped us with a personal vehicle and driver for comfortable price. Carmella escorted us. Her advises in the market were just what we needed not to get fooled. So we spent a wonderful week with kind people. Best wishes to Chuck. His chuckburger in Captain Gregg’s is that you must dare to try.)))) And good news for further guests – Anthony is building a swimming-pool, it is going to be ready in May. Late talks, philippine sun, clever dogs, waterfalls, Anthony and Rochelle and Leelah are now in our memories as one of the best journeys. We wish them all the best. Sure we will meet again. And I already know the place. 🙂
I stayed with my wife and three-year-old daughter for two nights at Rochelle and Anthony’s place. Everything was perfect from the start. Very good pre-arrival communication. We got details about nearby attractions and suggested trip plan from Anthony. He also arranged for complimentary pickup and drop from the Sabang pier. Caretaker Jeff and his wife Elsie were very helpful and took good care of us during our stay. They accompanied us to a nearby lighthouse and Sabang village. Jeff and Elsie also gave us the tour of the property. We saw wonderful sunset from the terrace. Jeff also helped to book a Jeepney for a day trip to Ponderosa and Talipanan beach (Lucas restaurant). They also shared some toys with my daughter to play with. The place itself is located 15 minutes ride from Sabang village that is a good thing. It’s quiet, and views are nice. Room was clean and equipped with kitchen stove/utensils. Bathroom was big. We enjoyed our stay. I will highly recommend Rochelle and Anthony’s place to everyone.
We had a great stay at Rochelle and Anthony’s. Upon arrival we were greeted by Rochelle and her friendly staff. They warmly welcomed us with a refreshing glass of fruit juice and a tour of the property. The view of the ocean from different levels is stunning. Although the two rooftop terraces are their private floors, they were very welcoming to enjoy them during our three day stay. On my last evening there, Rochelle even arranged in an house massage on the rooftop terrace with the ocean breeze! A perfect setting to relax. We ate each meal (prepared by the staff) at the home to enjoy the scenery as much as possible. Each meal was well prepared and the menu had a a great variety for all tastes. The private beach is beautiful and receives great morning light for snorkeling. Rochelle kindly let us borrow the gear which we didn’t manage to bring with us. The room was very comfortable and well maintained and clean. The bathroom was also generous with fresh linens. Checking out was easy along with communication. This was a perfect place to remove ourselves from our daily routines and enjoy a serene, relaxed setting. I highly recommend this place and hope to stay there again in the future.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rochelle’s. The view that greets us every morning and the sunsets at the end of every day are medicine for the soul. Anthony also kindly showed us around his estate and shared with us his plans for sustainable-living. The family is very warm and we have been invited to join them for meals. They also arranged for the best massage sessions for us. My only gripe is that we have to remind the helper about our breakfasts every morning. A breakfast menu which states the choices available will be good.
We stayed at the Shangri-La Ocean view from January 1, 2015 to January 08, 2015. Upon arriving at the pier Anthony greated us and picked us up and gave us a ride to the Shangri-la. Upon arriving we were very happy and amazed by how beautiful the place was and the views were absolutely amazing. The staff were amazing with helping us during the week in assisting us and guiding us on activities. I just absolutely Love Puerto Galera and look forward to returning some day. I will return and stay at this property.
